The children in Mrs. McHale's senior room participated in a online live stream tutorial teaching us how to design and create a bridge that would support as much weight as possible. The catch was we were only allowed to use pencils and elastic bands. We worked in pairs together to build our bridges, and there was a lot of trail and error to get them right. Once we were happy with our finished bridges it was time to test them out. We decided to use books from our school library that were all a similar weight. Each group took turns carefully stacking as many books onto their bridges as possible. We couldn't believe how strong our pencil bridges were. The most books that were supported on the bridge was 20, by two of our 6th class boys. Take a look at the photos below if you don't believe us!
